With Part 4.3, we arrive at the heart of Part 4. But more importantly, this remaining portion of Part 4 provides the tools for answering a large percentage of the questions we try to answer in Part 5. So mastering Parts 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5 pays off twice ... once in Part 4 and again in Part 5. The moral of the story is that whatever time it takes you to develop a good understanding of
- Venn Diagrams
- tree diagrams
- the multiplication principle
- combinations
- permutations
is time well spent. Remember that ALL of Test #3 is based on Part 5, and Part 5 solution techniques rest heavily on Part 4. So your understanding of Part 5 will determine about 50% of your Test #2 grade and about 65% of your Test #3 grade.
