Homework

It is essential to complete the homework in this course if you wish to succeed.  Your WebAssign homework average will make up 37% of your final grade.  Multiple homework assignments are due each week. No assignments are dropped.

Tests and Final Exam

Tests and the final exam will be taken by most students at one of the Delta Testing Centers.   The format of the tests will be similar to the WebAssignments used for homework except that you will have limited time and the number of submissions will be greatly reduced.

You will be allowed to bring one page of notes, scrap/blank paper, and (optionally) a calculator to all tests and the final exam.  Additionally, there will be links at the top of each test/exam that will allow you to link out directly to 4 online tools that you will be allowed to use during the tests.  No other external website usage will be allowed during tests.

No tests are dropped.  All students are required to take the final exam.

Textbook

No textbook or lab manuals are needed. However, there is a textbook that was in use at the time this online class was created, and it is still available in PDF format. It's available to download for free and can be used as an optional study resource if you like.

Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities who require accommodations of any sort should take the following steps as early in the semester as possible.

1) First make sure that you understand everything on the following page.

2)  Then, if you have not already done so, log into the DRO student portal and use it to "Send Accommodation Letters", as detailed on the following page.

3)  After this has been done, send an email to the instructor and Jenn letting them know that you have requested that your accommodation letter be sent.  They will verify that it has been received and will discuss all necessary details with you.  This is particularly important if you require extra time on your tests because Jenn will need to set that up in WebAssign for you.

4)  Immediately after sending the email above (even if you haven't gotten a reply yet), please review the following page that covers how accommodated testing works for DELTA classes.

5)  After getting a reply from the instructor and/or Jenn regarding your accommodations, please use the link at the bottom of the following page to make your testing appointments.  You should go ahead and set up all 3 tests and the final exam as early in the semester as possible in order to avoid times/dates filling up.

(Note: The instructor plays no role in deciding upon requests for special accommodations. Such requests should go directly to the NCSU Disability Resource Office.)

For those with hearing impairment or those who find closed captioning helpful, the videos used in this class are available with closed captioning. To access the captions, simply go to the YouTube version of a video and click the "cc" button that YouTube offers at the bottom of each video.

Academic Integrity

NCSU has established policies regarding academic integrity. In this course either of the following is considered to be a violation of the honor system:
  • cheating on tests (i.e. receiving help from another student during the test in person or via electronic/digital communication)
  • having someone else submit WebAssignments under your name
Talking with other students about homework assignments or getting help from other students is allowed and encouraged.
